Beginners willow basketry

This is a great opportunity to work with Carol to make a willow basket with Somerset willow. This is a one day course for people who are completely new to basketmaking to learn how to use traditional English basketmaking techniques.
About the course
Title: Beginners willow basketry
About the tutor: Carol has been making and teaching for many years and is a great tutor who will teach you how to make a willow basket. Cornish Willow, the business she and her husband run in north Cornwall make a range of traditional willow and green wood products, including baskets, hurdles / fencing and rustic furniture for the home and garden. Carol uses, as far as possible, locally sourced and home grown materials. Much of the material used is grown on Treovis Cross Farm, Cornwall. More information
Knowledge/skills: No previous skills are required.
Course Format: The course will introduce you to the basics of stake and strand techniques. This is a method used to make traditional baskets such as shopping baskets. You will also learn about how willow materials are harvested and prepared for weaving. You will make a simple round basket using Somerset willow and English basketmaking techniques
Cost: £50 includes all materials, tea/coffee and cakes.
Duration: This is a one day course starting at 10:00 and finishing by 17:00
