Heritage Lottery Fund grant

Basketry and Beyond has successfully bid for a grant of £23,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to help stage the first ever international basketry festival in DEVON. Led by the team at Basketry and Beyond and volunteers from the local community, the HLF grant will enable Basketry and Beyond to research and record, for others to learn from and enjoy, the heritage of basketry from the South West of England. The festival will feature have-a-go workshops, displays and demonstrations of South West Baskets.

FROM BARE STEMS 8 March – 2 June 2013, an exhibition of baskets and basketry techniques and materials, with a  focus on the fishing, farming and fashion theme of the festival. Curated by Hilary Burns the exhibition will show traditional and contemporary work side by side, together with information about how and with what they are made.
